Volunteering at ABLE2 Events

Volunteering for ABLE2’s events is a fantastic opportunity to provide hands-on, in-person support for people with disabilities, and get to know ABLE2’s staff, volunteers and supporters. It’s a great way to connect with the community and expand your involvement. This volunteering opportunity is eligible for community hours.

ABLE2 events include our signature fundraiser Evening in the Maritimes in May, the Annual Picnic in August, and the Holiday Dinner and Dance in December. Check out the Events Page for our upcoming events.

As a volunteer, your support is vital so that everyone has what they need to fully participate in the activities. Duties vary based on the type of event and may entail tasks such as:

  • Assisting with setup and teardown for the event
  • Directing attendees and providing general information
  • Assisting attendees in accessing and participating in activities
  • Serving plated meals and drinks
  • Providing wheelchair push and guiding assistance
  • Ensuring accessibility is maintained throughout the event

Requirements:

  • A valid Police Record Check
  • Ability to engage with and support individuals of all ages and abilities
  • Commitment to the principles of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging
  • English is required, Bilingual (English/French) is appreciated

“I feel good about volunteering. I’m meeting lots of friends, it’s good for networking, and it’s adding some value in our community and society. Volunteering with ABLE2 has been a very good experience.”
