Volunteer appreciation at ABLE2 tagged “Impacting lives together” is the grand finale of our weeklong volunteer week April 14th to 20th

A free event that brings together all our programs, events, committee, and office volunteers with staff to demonstrate our gratitude for the time and efforts our volunteers have dedicated to supporting the implementation of ABLE2 programs and the ways it has impacted people in our community in the last 50 years.

As an appreciation, ABLE2 is hosting all volunteers for a free museum tour at the event. 

Guest Speaker:

Michael Lifshitz is the Honorary Chair of ABLE2’s Evening in the Maritimes committee. A great volunteer, Michael is known in Ottawa and across Canada as an advocate for the disability community, a savvy businessman, an insightful motivational speaker and pretty funny when he does his stand-up comedy gigs.

Accessibility: There will be an Accessibility Team on-site to provide the required assistance. The event is inclusive and accessible for all guests. 

Venue: Canada Science and Technology Museum

Date/Time: Saturday, April 20th, 2024 starting at 1:00 PM

Theme: Impacting Lives Together | ABLE2 50th anniversary

Lunch: Varieties of delicious well-catered meals by Chef Ric’s are provided for free.

Ticket: Free for all volunteers. By invitation 

Parking: Free (Pick up parking pass at registration desk). Directions, parking, bus, and para instructions

Transportation: Parking-there is ample parking in front and beside the museum. Parking passes will be available at the registration desk. Para Transpo- the recommended drop-off location is the front entrance of the museum. OC Transpo- buses 40 and 46 have bus stops close to the museum.

FASD Symposium

The FASD Symposium is Eastern Canada’s largest annual gathering of everyone connected to the FASD community. This one-day interactive, educational event, with content available in English and French, attracts 400+ people each year. Our theme for 2023 was ‘It is Time to Change". A day that will bring together advocates and researchers and creative ideas about effecting change in systems, identifying existing gaps and suggesting actions we need to take to support people (and their caregivers) in the FASD community.
