Transition from High School: ABLE2 Education Series

ABLE2 is offering a series of virtual workshops to help families create a safe and secure future for a loved one with a disability.

Workshop Description

Transitioning from high school is a stressful time for families.  There are many supports in the community, yet it feels like there is nothing out there.  Learn when and how to apply for Passport funding and how it can support your child and how to access some of the services and supports available for education, employment, volunteering and social activities available throughout the region.

Jessica Carswell is an Adult Case Manager with Service Coordination Support. Using a strengths-based, person-centred approach, she works with individuals and families to identify goals and create support plans. As a Case Manager she provides information on a wide range of resources available in the developmental sector and beyond and helps to narrow the search based on what’s important to each person. She then helps connect people to the services and supports needed to obtain their goals.

Time: 6:30 – 8:00 pm

Cost: $35 per person

Registration: Please register using the link below. Registered participants will be sent the Zoom link to access the workshop prior to the workshop.

Cancellation Policy

ABLE2 Cancels

The registration fee is fully refundable, with proof of payment receipt and the appropriate manager’s approval if ABLE2 cancels the workshop.

Allow 15 business days for the refund to be processed.

Participant Cancels

A registrant withdrawing/cancelling their attendance must do so 10 working days before the workshop starts. A refund will then be issued minus 15% finance and administration fee.

or

A registrant may designate an alternate participant to attend in their place. This change of participant must be communicated to the event organizer prior to the workshop.

If the registrant is unable to find a substitute, they will be given a credit to attend the future session, if available.

If the workshop is not planned for the future or is a one-time workshop:

• A registrant withdrawing/cancelling their attendance must do so 10 working days before workshop starts. A refund will then be issued minus 15% finance and administration fee;

• No refunds will be issued within 9 working days or less from the workshop start date;

• No refunds will be issued for non-attendance at the workshop for any reason;

• Allow 15 business days for the refund to be processed;

Caregiver Retreat

Caregiver Retreat

The retreat will celebrate the resilience that caregivers share, introduce them to new tools and ways of thinking, demonstrate the importance of connection, and will leave caregivers feeling positive about their role. The goal of the day will be to decrease caregiver stress, provide tools and strategies to assist caregivers in managing their own mental wellness, and provide informative, relaxing and interactive sessions. This is the largest caregiver retreat and conference in Ontario. Last year we had nearly 200 in-person attendees and 2000+ virtual viewers.
